Bespoke Maple Washstand Reveal

Now that the holidays are over and life is *somewhat* back to normal, I was able to wrap up work on my bespoke maple washstand.

It was wearing a custom color that I mixed up using several grays and blues in the General Finishes Milk Paint line.

I had swapped out the chippendale style handles for these wooden pulls from D.Lawless Hardware, and was set on giving this adorable piece a cottage style makeover.

I think it's looking quite "cottagey" now, don't you?

Once the GF Milk Paint had dried, I added a layer of water based wood stain in the color "Whitewash".

This settled into all of the spoon carvings, nooks and crannies all over the piece and it went from cute to downright adorable!

I'm so pleased with how the Whitewashed Wood Stain settled into the details. They're so much more prominent now. Here's some closeups of the spoon carvings. Yummy, right?

Even the handles caught a bit of the white!

I'll have to replicate this combination on another project sometime soon. It was so much fun to create! This piece isn't perfect, and bits of the whitewash are heavier in some places. The handles aren't completely even, but all of these quirks give this piece a more rustic, cottage quality.

I especially like how well this bespoke paint color works with white accents and greenery on top. It's a color that could work all year round! Snowflakes, silvery tinsel, Easter colors, spring greenery and white pumpkins would all look fantastic on this piece.
