Arabesque Martha Washington Sewing Table
My latest project is this Martha Washington sewing table. I ran a poll on my Instagram stories and asked what color I should paint it and a majority voted on the same color...
Pink!
This particular shade of pink is Arabesque by Miss Mustard Seed. It's dusty, muted and perfect for sweet little pieces. I used it in the past on a vanity.
Just as this vanity had a sweetness about it, I think my Martha Washington sewing table fits well into the same category.
I've been struggling a bit with staging my pieces. The process of choosing the right objects to place around my pieces has been a bit of a challenge, so when I get "stager's block", I look at the feeds of other furniture artists that I admire.
For this particular piece, I turned to Lee.Marie Antiqued Furniture.
I liked how there was a wooden chair off to the side in the photo above along with an added a bit of greenery and old books. So in the spirit of full disclosure, I mimicked that staging that I loved so much with my piece.
Now I didn't have the exact same props, but I did my best! The chair seemed a little clunky so I took it away and tried a cleaner shot.
This sewing table was painted in two coats of Arabesque and topped with Miss Mustard Seed's Hemp Oil. I swapped out the wooden knobs with three Provincial Antique Brass Knobs from D.Lawless Hardware.
In addition to three drawers, the top lifts up on either side and you can store items in the barrel-shaped compartments on the left and right.
This little guy is available for $145 plus tax. It will be making its way to Morgantown Market as soon as space opens up and some of my other pieces find new homes. If you're interested in it, you can always send me an email.
Doesn't it wear pink so well?
