French Provincial Buffet
This furniture makeover actually isn't a new one. I finished this piece a while ago, but I never gave it a proper photo shoot, so I figured it was long overdue!
Back in October, I picked up two French provincial dressers from my local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. (I told you this photo shoot was long overdue!) One was a tall chest-on-chest and the other was a hefty horizontal dresser with nine drawers.
I painted the tall dresser in Trophy and it was absolutely gorgeous.
The MMS Milk Paint crackled naturally in some spots, giving it character and age.
I staged it in my booth at Morgantown Market for Christmas, and it didn't take very long to sell.
I decided to paint its horizontal partner in the vintage chalkboard mix made popular by Allison of The Golden Sycamore.
It's 3 parts Boxwood.
And 2 parts Artissimo.
The result is a lovely green that pretty much matches the color of old vintage chalkboards.

It looks great on a chalkboard, but it looks even better on a piece of furniture. Especially if it's a lovely French provincial piece!
I sealed the custom MMS Milk Paint color with Hemp Oil, which made it darker and richer.
To add a bit more age, I also added a layer of Antiquing Wax over top.
It's subtle, but it definitely added a little something-something!
The shape of this piece is crazy beautiful. The sweeping curves allow your eye to wander across the piece effortlessly.
There is some subtle crazing in here and there, and you can see how the Antiquing Wax settled into the recessed areas perfectly.
There were some patches that chipped, but overall the piece is full coverage.
The feet have the most beautiful curved shape.
The top left and top middle drawers have convenient dividers in them, making it easy to keep your belongings organized.
I refinished the top of the piece using General Finishes Java Gel Stain and their High Performance Topcoat in Satin. It's a winning combination!
My favorite part of this piece has to be the original brass hardware. I think the color of the brass compliments the jewel tone of the custom MMS Milk Paint color.
I shined each one up with Hemp Oil.
Just look at that color!
This piece is available for $595 and measures a whopping 69" long, 23" deep and 34" tall. I'll be bringing it to the Spring Barn Market on April 28th if it doesn't find its forever home by then. It's a solid piece of furniture and it's really heavy, so Marc and I aren't looking forward to moving it twice in one day. If you're interested, let me know! I'm eager to see it find its forever home before the market in April.
This piece has the dimensions to be used as a buffet, dresser or a TV console piece. It has plenty of drawers, so storage definitely won't be an issue! It's incredibly solid and is constructed beautifully. It's actually a bit of a tank. So if you're in the market for a gorgeous server/buffet/TV console table/dresser in a gorgeous bespoke Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint color, send me an email!
