Trophy Oak Dresser
This makeover is a quick one! I wasn't able to take a lot of photos the past few days because I've been pressed to produce furniture faster than usual. A few weeks ago, I picked up an oak dresser from my local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. It had good bones but the previous owner did a lot of damage to the front. It almost looked like a pair of scissors were taken and stabbed all down the front of the drawers and the top.

Despite the damage, the piece was still worth saving and it was priced accordingly. Plus, I felt really bad for the poor abused dresser! I packed it up in The Marshmallow along with a couple other fabulous finds and took everything home.
It took about an hour to apply wood putty in all of the "stab" marks and smooth them out with sandpaper. After that, I tried out a new product called paint deglosser.

I watched a handful of YouTube videos to learn how to apply it and used it on my dresser to help knock down the original shiny finish.
After the piece had been deglossed, I picked Miss Mustard Seed's Trophy as my color choice.

Trophy is the true gray in the MMS Milk Paint line and I thought it would look beautiful topped with August's Product of the Month, White Wax.

As I mixed up the Trophy, I added equal parts Bonding Agent to ensure that the Milk Paint wouldn't chip.

For the hardware, I took off the original wood knobs and replaced them with these vintage white glass knobs. I thought they would be a perfect accent to the Trophy Milk Paint and White Wax.

The wooden casters were missing from the bottom of the dresser, so I took some out of my hardware stash and hammered them in to the empty sockets on the feet. After some staging, the dresser's makeover was all finished!

My watercolor cow print was painted by Miss Mustard Seed and I ordered it from her Society6 collection.

The ironstone milk pitcher is one of my favorite pieces and I arranged some wheat stalks inside of it as a nod to Fall (which I can't wait to get here).

White Wax has a tendency to nestle in grooves, dings, and any other low points on a piece of furniture. I loved how it looks on this piece!

It's a very cloudy day today in Pennsylvania, so the lighting in my photos isn't as good as it could be. Despite that, it's obvious that this dresser looks so much better now! I think anything is better than stab marks...
