Repurposed Sewing Table

Pieces of furniture that were once used for sewing purposes are fabulous to repurpose for jewelry storage! I found this piece and fixed it up so it could mount on the wall.

A few days ago, I went to a local antique shop and found this sweet little table.

I loved the curve of the legs and the oval original handles.

The top had some damage but it could easily be covered with Milk Paint. I'm not sure how you get bobby pin marks on a table, but it probably takes a lot of talent!

When I opened the drawers, I was caught off guard at first because instead of a drawer, I found this:

The other side had one too!

The bottom drawer had a fun surprise too!

The little tray was removable, leaving tons of room underneath for all sorts of goodies.

I started to think back to the sewing cabinet I had repurposed and I thought this little table would make another fabulous jewelry storage piece.

I wanted the table to have a fun pop of color so I mixed 2 parts Kitchen Scale with 1 part Grain Sack.

The bespoke color looked really yummy and beautiful in the cup. I couldn't wait to paint it out.

After giving the table a quick scuff, I started painting.

I kept the drawers closed while I painted and went right over the hinges. It didn't matter to me if the paint chipped off, and if it leaked around the corners of the drawers, I could sand it off later.

The table took two coats of my bespoke mixture to get fully covered, which is normal. I smoothed everything out with 220 grit sandpaper and then applied some Hemp Oil over the paint and the original handles.

Didn't it turn out so cute? I was happy to see random chipping in some spots. This is what Milk Paint does best!

I always like how chippy spots tie in with dark hardware.

To stage this piece for jewelry storage, I grabbed some of my own pieces and placed them inside. The two swing out drawers are ideal for hoop earrings, watches, and rings.

What's nice about these pegs is that they sit down far enough in the swing out drawer that your rings and earrings won't fall off or get lost inside the table.

The removable tray is perfect for watches, necklaces, and more earring storage.

The tray also slides back so you can reach into the drawer below.

Or you can take the tray out completely to sort through what you need.

This sweet piece is available for $110.

If you have a small space where you need functional storage, or if you're a lover of all things repurposed, then this piece is for you!
