A Laundry List

Instead of painting and delivering furniture, I've been in bed with a stomach flu the past 2 days. Yesterday was the first day that I could eat or drink anything successfully and today is the first day I can sit up and walk around the apartment without feeling like I'm going to fall over from exhaustion. Taking a few days off is always good to refresh and revitalize your creative juices, but I'd prefer if my days off weren't on sick leave.

As I've been in bed, a laundry list of things to do has slowly been piling up. I have yet to deliver my Trophy corner cupboard to Morgantown Market.

Along with that pretty piece, my shipment of boxwood wreaths just came in this week. I'm all stocked up on round boxwood wreaths with ribbons,

square boxwood wreaths with ribbons,

Mills Floral

and more bunches of dried lavender!

My Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint sample boards also arrived in the mail, so I need to get them into my booth so you can see what all of the gorgeous colors look like with the 3 wax finishes!

Not only do all of these items need to be delivered, but I need to get my full ironstone collection back in as well as my flow blue china now that I have a cupboard to store and display them.

I'm hoping to be able to start work on this pretty piece soon as well.

This desk came from one of my local Habitat for Humanity ReStores. I saw it and was immediately drawn to the wooden handles and key holes. After opening all of the drawers, I discovered that they ran the entire depth of the desk! Not only were they super deep, but the original WORKING key was safely stored in the middle drawer.

Don't you love it when pieces come with a working key?

The top had a horrific red leather overlay, which I promptly ripped and heat-gunned off. I plan on stripping the top to get rid of the residual adhesive and the veneer trim that ran around the side. There's gorgeous wood under there. I just know it!

The only structural blemish this piece has is that it's missing some trim work and a panel on the right hand side in the back. The good news is that you won't even see it if the desk is pushed up against a wall, like it is in the photo.

As pretty as this piece will be once it's painted, I don't think it's going to get its makeover today. As much as I want to get started on this laundry list of things to do, I'm going to have to force myself to chill out so I can recover.

So if I've been a bit absent on social media, slow to respond to texts or emails, I apologize. It's been blankets, lots of sleep, Gatorade, snuggles with the cat, and rice for this furniture girl, and it's probably going to stay that way for at least another day.
