Would You Paint It?

On my last trip to my local Habitat for Humanity ReStore, I found 2 amazing pieces. The first was my antique dresser.

This has already received a makeover and is happily sitting in the furniture room of Rooted in New London. It's for sale if you're interested!

The second piece is a fantastic 8 drawer chest.

I saw it out of the corner of my eye and upon first glance, I thought it was a reproduction piece. Upon further investigation, I happily discovered that is was a handmade piece hat's oozing rustic charm and the price was AMAZING! Usually pieces that have lots of compartments like this are upwards of $250 or more. This one wasn't even close and I couldn't believe my luck!

So let's talk about these adorable little drawers first, shall we?

The ring pulls on the front of each drawer are held in place with expandable wings on the other side. I was expecting a screw and a nut, but nope! These little guys are original and adorable.

The bottoms of the drawers are beveled along each side and are made of 2 panels.

Check out how the backs are constructed!

The wood is thick too - no flimsy plywood here! Each drawer was handmade to fit its cubby, which Marc and I found out the hard way. I took them all out to haul it upstairs. Once it was time to put it back together, Marc patiently sat for a good 20 minutes figuring out which drawer went where.

It was like a furniture rubix cube.

So here comes the big question...should I paint it?

I'm leaning towards no, but I'd like to hear your thoughts. Email your suggestions, comment on Facebook, or leave me a note on Instagram with your ideas. I always like hearing from my readers!
