My First Antique Haul Post

I've have always enjoyed Miss Mustard Seed's blog posts where she shows you what she purchased during her recent antique haul for a few reasons.

1. Watching her unbox everything feels like Christmas.

2. I can vicariously shop through her. My budget prevents me from purchasing about 70% of what I find on my trips. Maybe that's a good thing...

3. I learn about antiques (what to call certain things, the names of particular styles of furniture, etc.)

4. I realize what kind of "goodies" exist in the antique world that I can curate in my own spaces.

5. I learn the "why" behind her shopping. What was it that caught her eye? What does she look for in certain pieces? What should I be looking for when I'm out and about?

While my antique shopping is much smaller in scale as compared to Miss Mustard Seed's, I loved everything I picked up on my last trip. I decided to snap a few photos and share my treasures with you. Hopefully you love them as much as I do!

This ironstone gravy boat had such a pretty handle and lovely curvy shape to it.

It does have a crack running along the front, so I thought it might make a great planter for succulents. Can't you picture them spilling over the top in a cascading waterfall of greenery?

Here's the hallmark.

I just love finding crackly pieces.

I also picked up two blue and white enamel bowls. They make such a sweet pair and bring that quintessential farmhouse feel with them.

One of them had some wear and tear along the rim, so I don't think it would be safe for food use, but it would be a perfect bowl to display things. Maybe another succulent planter?

Turns out these were made in Sweden!

I also got these two blue ironstone ring holders. Aren't they just gorgeous?

The rose on this one got my attention right away.

The flowers on this one are just so sweet.

I like how one dish has a white stem while the other has a blue one. Kind of a "his" and "hers" matching set.

I even like the hallmark on the bottom. It's huge!

I also got these three German horses. They are so tiny and adorable. I passed them about four times before I finally gave in and bought them.

My favorite is the horse with the mane. He's so shaggy and comical!

I can't look at him without chuckling. I picture him as the misfit horse in the pasture, but in a good way. If I ever had a horse, I'd want him to look like this.

The other two horses have pretty details and their hair is much more under control. They're quite small too - about two inches across and maybe three inches high, if that.

I also picked up a pair of milk glass candle holders. I don't buy a lot of milk glass but I do like the look of it. I figured these would be a pretty neutral option to adorn any table or mantle for the holidays. You can dress them up or down with some greenery and make a lovely statement.

I also picked up a pair of wooden candlesticks that I plan on milk painting. The bottom still has the penciled "X" where the carpenter marked the center.
