Cute French Things

There's a pet store near the auction that Marc and I attend. This past week, we took a break from the action and got our puppy fix. I saw an adorable Cavachon (King Charles Cocker Spaniel and Bichon Frise mix) and a French Bulldog. Ugh, why are dogs so cute? We went home with three pieces of furniture and no dog.

Self control for the win.

Aren't they awesome? The details on these two are stunning!

The bodies were painted in French Linen Chalk Paint®. I mixed 2 parts Old White with 1 part French Linen and some Saltwash for the tops. Saltwash is a powder that you can mix in any type of paint to achieve texture. It changes the consistency of your paint to cake batter. You stipple it on and get oodles of texture, grooves, nooks, and crannies.

Seriously though, it would make an English muffin jealous.

After the tops dried, I went over everything with Annie Sloan's Clear and Black Waxes.

Here is a picture of the top of the night stand, in all of its textured glory.

Now on to a delicious corner carving.

I didn't forget about the hardware! They got the same treatment.

There are so many beautiful details on this piece that pop now that they're slightly shadowed with the black soft wax.

The legs are my absolute favorite!

I had a fun time staging too. Natasha brought in some of her succulents from her home so I combined them with some old bottles.
