Rocking and Rolling

I've been on the lookout for a new office chair for a bit. Our current chair has been with me since high school. The raising and lowering mechanism has been broken since college and it hasn't been high on my priority list to swap out. Now that I'm married, I'm trying to decorate our apartment with a theme in mind. I'm looking for pieces that are made from wood, quality built, and have a rustic look to them.

I've been on the lookout for a wooden banker's chair to replace the broken one. I've found several on Craig's List but they were either too expensive or too far away to pick up. So, when my coworker said he had a wooden chair he thought I would like, I just about jumped for joy when he showed me the picture...

I picked it up a few days ago along with a few other items that he gave to me including an old window with the glass panes still in tact and a shelf with the cutest lattice pattern on each side.

The chair wasn't exactly the style I was looking for. It didn't have arms and the legs didn't swivel, but it was wooden, sturdy, and free. I would make do.

I went to my local ACE Hardware and picked up some casters to put on the legs.

Casters are pretty easy to install. All I had to do was follow the instructions on the back of the package. Imagine that?!

I started by drilling a hole on the bottom of the leg using the specific sized drill bit the package recommended.

And then I took the socket and hammered it into place. The teeth on the bottom grip the wood so it stays put.

After installing the sockets, I put the casters in and clicked them into place.

Aren't they cute?

They gave the chair the exact feel I was hoping for!

The chair isn't finished yet. I'm not sure if I'm going to paint it or leave it wood.

For now, it's been wheeled into it's new home and it's the perfect size and height.

That's one less thing to find on "the list"!
