A Little
"This is a huge step of faith
and I want to always remember that.
This name is a constant reminder.
Little is much when God is in it."
- Marian Parsons of Miss Mustard Seed
(commenting on starting her own business)
Marian Parsons is doing a series on her blog about how she started her business. She did one before, but this new release of posts is going into more detail, which I very much appreciate.
Her words got my wheels turning. I have little right now too...
a little 800 square foot apartment with a bit of space to work in.
a little (but supportive) network of friends and family that is growing bit by bit.
a little budget for every piece I work on.
a little inventory.
a little cabinet where I keep my supplies.
a little stack of business cards.
a little website.
But I have a little faith too.
Faith that this "thing" known as Eight Hundred might be something bigger one day. Faith that while I am still learning about how a creative business runs, tax laws operate, budgets are created, accounting is accomplished, and how stores operate, this just might turn into something.
A store?
A blog?
A job?
A paint line?
A collaboration?
A new career?
A hobby I keep on the side?
For now, I'm waiting to see what God does. Or, more importantly, what God doesn't do.
For now, I'm going to keep doing what I do.
Creating furniture stories.
One piece at a time.
With each one, God is creating MY story.
One piece at a time.
