Visiting Mustard Seed Studio

Last week, I had the absolute pleasure to visit Marian of Miss Mustard Seed Interiors and Kriste of Rosemary and Thyme at Mustard Seed Studio just outside of Gettysburg. I had first connected with these two inspirational women at the Luckett's Spring Market which you can read about in my post titled, "God Things". Since Lucketts, I've been connecting with them regarding business questions and they have been so gracious to share their insights, suggestions, and knowledge with me.

I'll try my best not to gush my way through this post, maintain my composure, and not mimic teenagers at a One Direction concert but let's face it - when you meet people you admire face-to-face, it's pretty darn exciting. When you go to their location, it's amazing. When you can chat about your passions and pick their brain when you're at their location face-to-face...I think it's OK to squeal out loud.

Marian and Kriste were wonderful to speak with. I was a little nervous at first, but I had to keep reminding myself that they are people just like me. They were in my shoes before and they understand what it's like to be a startup. They had to learn the in's and out's of photography, painting, business protocol, you name it!

Here are some delicious pictures I snapped during the course of my visit. Everywhere I looked, there was something interesting to look at. If you ever have the opportunity to attend a workshop here, your eyes are in for a treat!

What really makes this studio so special is the light. There are large windows on almost every wall.

It was so light, airy, and bright. Marian didn't have any of the overhead lights turned on while I was there. They weren't necessary.

I saw some familiar pieces from Lucketts.

Hand-painted details on select pieces.

And familiar display pieces from Marian's blog.

The crusty cabinet she sealed with Tough Coat.

This gorgeous display for packets of Milk Paint.

And the antique shoe cart for staging props.

I even got to watch Marian and Kriste in action.

As you can clearly see, they don't have any fun together whatsoever.

I captured a few moments while they worked on projects separately.

Inspiration was everywhere. The atmosphere made you want to get up and paint something.

Encouragement was readily available.

The Milk Paint colors were proudly (and creatively) on display like colorful little soldiers.

Here's Apron Strings nestled in between a few blue tones.

And the namesake color, Mustard Seed Yellow.

There were fabulous touches everywhere you looked.

And guarding the studio was the "watch cow" by the front door.

I was so blessed for the opportunity to rub elbows with these beautiful and talented ladies.

They love their craft. They love the Lord. They love their families.

It's visits like this that give me hope that one day, Lord willing, I'll have my own space where I can use the talents God has blessed me with in the same way they use theirs.
