From Jenn to Jenn
One of my coworkers (who also happens to be a double "n" Jenn) asked me if I wanted her old coffee table for a project. Of course I said "yes" and tried hard not to jump up and down with excitement. Her sweet husband brought it to work one morning to our office and when I walked in, there was a new piece of furniture with my name literally on it.
After getting it home, I set to taking it apart and working on the body and the top.
I gave both a good hand sanding to rough it up and give my paint something to stick to. I chose to redo it in two colors - General Finishes Basil and Linen Milk Paint to channel Spring. I thought it would look so pretty with a vase of flowers on top or a wire basket with treasures inside.
I started with 2 coats of Linen as a base coat and then sealed it with their High Performance Top Coat. The High Performance will protect the Linen paint from being sanded away when I distress the final piece. Without the top coat in between colors, I would burn right through to the bare wood.
Here's the Linen going on.
And then the Basil over top.
The first coat always looks the worst but trust me, just give it a couple of coats and everything turns out amazing!
After a few coats of paint, I put another few coats of topcoat on to seal and protect it.
And here's the finished piece, from one Jenn to another to YOU!
